A colonoscopy is a type of endoscopy that is used to diagnose conditions affecting your lower digestive tract including the rectum and large intestine (colon). Dr De Lacavalerie uses this procedure to identify and treat a range of issues. It includes viewing inside the anus and large intestine with a surgical camera while the patient is under sedation.
Are you eligible for DIRECT Access Endoscopy?

- Cancer screening
- Iron deficiency ± anaemia
- Positive Faecal Occult Blood Test (FOBT)

- Family history of gastrointestinal cancer
- Rectal bleeding
To do so, you must NOT have any of the following conditions:

- BMI over 40
- Serious heart, lung, kidney or liver disease
- Previous difficulties with anaesthesia
- Impaired mobility affecting independence with bowel preparation

Your
OPERATION
All fees are charged in accordance with recommendations by the Australian Medical Association (AMA).
We require payment in full prior to any procedure performed. We process the Medicare and Private Health rebates once your procedure has been performed and your item numbers have been confirmed. You should receive your rebates within the following days after your procedure.
Due to constraints imposed by various private health insurance companies we regret that we cannot participate in gap cover schemes.
Before you consent to a surgical procedure you will be provided with a written “Informed Financial Consent” prior to your operation which will outline your rebate, and the gap “out of pocket fees” charged by our practice. These fees are separate to any other costs in relation to your surgery including anaesthetic fees, assistant fee (if required) and your hospital excess.
