Dr. Penelope De Lacavalerie

MBBS FRACS CSSANZ | Colorectal and General Surgeon

I started my surgical training in England where I completed my Basic Surgical Training in London. I then migrated to Australia where I completed my General Surgery fellowship on the Prince of Wales Hospital Network. I undertook further training in advanced Colorectal Surgery in Sydney including a 12-month Robotic Fellowship at Nepean Hospital.

I have expertise in advanced surgical techniques for conditions of the bowel including colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, bowel endometriosis and diverticular disease. My practice also includes general surgery conditions, endoscopy (gastroscopy and colonoscopy) and other benign anorectal conditions.

I have a particular interest in:
1) The diagnoses with High resolution anoscopy and surgical management of HPV related anal dysplasia and anal cancer.
2) Functional defecation disorders such as faecal incontinence and obstructive defecation. I perform on site a comprehensive anal physiology and anatomy assessment of the anal sphincter (endoanal ultrasound and anal manometry). A vital tool in the management of obstetric anal sphincter injuries, anal fistula and faecal incontinence.

I am passionate about providing comprehensive personalised care for all my patients.

I am is currently writing my Doctor in Philosophy (PhD) dissertation on “The role of molecular biomarkers in prediction of response to neoadjuvant Chemoradiation in rectal cancer” at UNSW, Sydney. I am the recipient of various grants and scholarships including the prestigious NHMRC Clinical Postgraduate Scholarship for my PhD studies at The Garvan Institute of Medical Research.

I am an avid educator and have been a Lecturer at both UNSW and University of Sydney.

Currently my main research interest is in the diagnoses, screening and treatment of HPV related anal dysplasia and anal cancer in high risk populations.

Dr Andrew Lin

Dr Lin graduated from the University of NSW and completed hospital training at the Prince of Wales Hospital. He attained fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and works in Randwick. Dr Lin works part-time as a surgical assistant and enjoys collaborating in a harmonious expert team with a culture of respect and patient-centred care.

Dr Anna Pedersen is an Australian trained Specialist Anaesthetist. She graduated from Imperial College, London. After commencing anaesthetic training in London for 2 years she moved to Australia and continued her anaesthetic training at Royal North Shore Hospital, Sydney for 5 years. She is a Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA).

Dr Clara Mok is a medical graduate from the University of New South Wales and a certified specialist anaesthetist with extensive experience in providing comprehensive anaesthesia care for a wide range of procedures. Her expertise spans areas such as ear, nose, and throat surgery, interventional cardiology, obstetrics and gynaecology, gastroenterology, orthopaedics, general surgery, and emergency surgery.

Dr. Mok practices in both public and private settings, working at institutions including The Sutherland Hospital, Canterbury Hospital, Kareena Private, and Prince of Wales Private Hospital. She is committed to individualized care, collaborating closely with surgical teams to develop anaesthesia plans that prioritize each patient’s unique needs and well-being.
